CERAMIC LABORATORY 2019

7th International Ceramic Art Symposium

Can you smell there is something in the air?

I do.

Is that amazing?

The animals are freely strolling around the Fortress area, they are friendly and approachable to strangers.

Just like the people of Daugavpils who always welcome visitors into their city.

The sound of silence

The sheer volume of wild nature makes Latvia one of the greenest countries in the world. It is a haven for the visitor who seeks to experience a land where nature and tradition have coexisted in harmony from time immemorial.

The pristine nature of Latvia is rich and diverse. An odd hillock decorates the rolling Latvian plains in between the sea, the lakes and countless rivers. Stately forests, broad mires, meadows, groves and gardens form the unique mosaic of the Latvian landscape.

Aivars Baranovskis - the organizer and Valentins Petjko - the curator of the Ceramic Laboratory symposium in the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Ceramics.

Kaspars Geiduks constructed the tailor made "Soda Kiln” in the ceramics centre. The team created a harmony and peaceful place for us to work.

Clay is an universe language, through ceramics the international artists got to know and understand each other's perspectives.
